Labqi QR Manager

Project Overview

Labqi QR Manager is a custom WordPress plugin I developed to provide a centralized QR code management system inside WordPress.

Instead of treating QR codes as simple static images, the plugin provides a complete workflow for creating, managing, tracking and distributing QR-based content from a dedicated WordPress admin interface.

The Challenge

Managing multiple QR codes can become difficult when each code has its own destination, status, tracking information or associated file.

The requirement was to create a system that could handle these different QR workflows directly inside WordPress without requiring multiple disconnected tools.

The system also needed to support bulk operations and provide administrators with useful information about QR activity.

The Solution

I developed Labqi QR Manager as a custom WordPress plugin from the ground up.

The plugin combines QR generation, destination management, custom QR URLs, scan tracking, secure attachment delivery and data-management tools into one centralized workflow.

The system allows administrators to create QR codes and manage what happens when those QR codes are scanned.

What I Built

QR Code Generation

The plugin can generate QR code images directly from the WordPress admin interface.

URL-Based QR Codes

Administrators can create QR codes that redirect visitors to a configured destination URL when scanned.

Attachment-Based QR Codes

The plugin can also associate QR codes with supported files such as PDF, DOCX, XLSX and image files, allowing the QR code to provide controlled access to the associated content.

Custom QR URLs

Each QR code can use a structured QR endpoint such as /qr/{code}. This creates a managed layer between the QR code and its final destination.

Scan Tracking

The system records QR scan activity, including the scan count and latest scan timestamp for individual QR codes.

Bulk Import

A CSV import workflow allows multiple QR records to be added at once, with per-row error reporting to make bulk operations easier to manage.

Data Export

QR data can be exported in CSV and XLSX formats, while ZIP export can package generated QR images together with their associated manifest data.

Analytics

The plugin includes an analytics dashboard widget to provide an overview of QR activity.

How the Workflow Works

01 — Create

Create a QR record and configure its destination or associated content.

02 — Generate

Generate the QR code image from the WordPress admin interface.

03 — Distribute

Download, print or share the generated QR code.

04 — Scan

A visitor scans the QR code and reaches the configured QR endpoint.

05 — Redirect or Deliver

The system either redirects the visitor to the configured URL or provides the associated file.

06 — Track

The scan activity is recorded so administrators can monitor QR usage.

Admin Management

The plugin provides a dedicated WordPress admin experience for managing QR records.

The management interface was designed around practical operations such as creating, editing, filtering and handling multiple QR codes rather than simply generating a QR image once.

This makes the plugin suitable for workflows where QR codes need to remain manageable after they have been created and distributed.

Security & File Handling

Because the plugin can work with uploaded attachments, file handling and access control were important parts of the implementation.

Attachment-based QR content is served through the plugin’s controlled delivery workflow rather than exposing the uploaded files as ordinary publicly accessible resources.

My Contribution

I developed the plugin and implemented the core QR management workflow, including:

  • WordPress plugin architecture
  • Custom PHP development
  • QR code generation
  • Custom QR URL handling
  • URL and attachment-based QR destinations
  • Scan tracking
  • Admin management interface
  • Bulk CSV import
  • CSV and XLSX export
  • ZIP export workflow
  • Analytics dashboard
  • File handling and validation
  • WordPress admin integration
  • Error handling and workflow refinement

Result

The final plugin provides a centralized QR management workflow inside WordPress.

Administrators can create and manage QR codes, configure destinations, distribute generated QR images, track scan activity and handle QR data through bulk import and export tools.

The project demonstrates how WordPress can be extended beyond standard content management to build a complete custom administrative system around a specific business workflow.

Project Takeaway

Labqi QR Manager is an example of building a practical WordPress plugin around a complete workflow rather than simply adding another small feature to a website.

The project combines QR generation, dynamic routing, tracking, secure content delivery and data management into one reusable WordPress system.

City & Category Directory

Project Overview

This project focused on building a location- and category-based directory for a pharmacy website.

The goal was to make pharmacy listings more relevant to visitors by connecting each listing with its appropriate location and category.

Instead of showing the same collection of pharmacies to every visitor, the directory structure was designed to narrow the listings according to the combination being explored.

The Challenge

Finding the right pharmacy for the right location

The website needed a structured way to organize pharmacy listings across different locations and categories.

A visitor looking for a pharmacy in a particular area should be able to reach listings relevant to that location without having to search through unrelated businesses.

The system therefore needed to connect:

  • Pharmacy listings
  • Locations
  • Pharmacy categories
  • Location + category combinations

The challenge was keeping these relationships manageable while allowing the directory to grow.

The Solution

Matching pharmacy listings by location and category

I built the directory around the relationship between location, category and pharmacy listing.

The visitor’s journey is based on the combination they are exploring:

Location
   +
Category
   ↓
Matching Pharmacy Listings

For example:

Location: Mohali
Category: Pharmacy
        ↓
Relevant Pharmacies in Mohali

This allows the directory to show businesses that are actually relevant to the selected location and category.

How It Works

01 — Location

The directory identifies the location being explored.

02 — Category

The visitor’s selected category determines the type of business they are looking for.

03 — Matching

The system uses the location + category combination to determine the relevant pharmacy listings.

04 — Results

The corresponding pharmacies are displayed for that specific combination.

So the basic structure becomes:

Location
   ↓
Category
   ↓
Location + Category
   ↓
Matching Pharmacies

What I Built

Location-Based Listings

Pharmacy listings can be associated with their relevant locations so visitors can find businesses in the area they are interested in.

Category-Based Matching

The category is used together with the location to narrow down the relevant listings.

Location + Category Pages

The directory structure supports pages based on the combination of location and category rather than relying on one global pharmacy listing.

Dynamic URL Structure

The URL structure changes according to the selected location/category context, providing a clearer path to each directory view.

Relevant Business Results

The listing shown to the visitor is based on the selected combination rather than simply displaying every available pharmacy.

My Contribution

I handled the WordPress development and the directory logic required to connect pharmacy listings with their locations and categories.

My work included:

  • WordPress development
  • Directory structure
  • Location/category relationships
  • Dynamic listing logic
  • URL and slug handling
  • Business listing queries
  • Testing and debugging
