Project Overview
A custom WooCommerce payment solution built to provide a dedicated UPI checkout experience while working within the existing WooCommerce order flow.
The Challenge
The store needed a more direct UPI payment experience for customers using UPI apps.
The payment flow also needed to work with the existing WooCommerce checkout instead of creating a completely separate ordering process.
The main requirements were:
- Add a dedicated UPI payment option to WooCommerce.
- Keep the experience connected to the existing checkout.
- Provide a clear payment flow for customers.
- Handle the order flow correctly after the payment step.
- Keep the solution manageable from the WordPress/WooCommerce environment.
The Solution
I built the payment functionality as a custom WooCommerce solution and integrated it into the existing checkout.
Instead of replacing the complete checkout system, the implementation works around WooCommerce’s existing payment and order structure.
The customer can select the UPI payment option during checkout and continue through the configured UPI payment flow.
This keeps the payment experience focused while allowing the store to continue using its existing WooCommerce setup.

Custom WooCommerce Payment Method
Added a dedicated UPI payment option to the WooCommerce checkout.
UPI Payment Flow
Created the customer-facing flow required to initiate the UPI payment process.
WooCommerce Integration
Connected the payment functionality with the existing WooCommerce checkout and order structure.

Handled the payment-related order flow so the customer’s checkout remains connected to the WooCommerce order.

Made the payment functionality configurable from the WordPress/WooCommerce environment.
